At Holistic Wellness & Psychiatry, our story is one of vision, growth, and purpose. What started in a small space with a big dream has evolved into a transformative movement in mental health care.
Two bedrooms, one bath — and a big dream.
The historic MOTT Building, downtown Cedar Rapids, alongside the river.
Bringing integrative care to the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Actively seeking new opportunities to expand in Cedar Rapids.
Our journey began in a small two-bedroom, one-bath property in North Liberty, where founder Laurie McCormick set out to redefine what mental health treatment could be.
She envisioned a space where patients could receive comprehensive, innovative, and deeply personal care — combining advanced psychiatric treatments with holistic healing modalities. Her mission was to move beyond symptom management and instead address the root causes of mental health challenges.
By integrating functional medicine and offering cutting-edge treatments like ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, the clinic provides a pathway not just for symptom relief, but for deep, lasting recovery from depression, anxiety, and related conditions.
The mission Laurie set out with — and the one the practice still operates under across two locations today.
Whole-person care
Comprehensive, innovative, and deeply personal care — combining advanced psychiatric treatments with holistic healing modalities.
Root causes, not just symptoms
We move beyond symptom management to address the underlying drivers of mental health challenges — biological, environmental, and emotional.
Cutting-edge & integrative
Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and functional medicine, offered alongside (not instead of) evidence-based psychiatric care.
Expanding access
Bringing high-quality, integrative mental health care to communities — including underserved ones — and continuing to grow.
The evolution of our practice locations — from a small two-bed, one-bath in North Liberty to two clinics across two coastlines.
Founder Laurie McCormick begins the practice in a small property in North Liberty, Iowa — setting out to redefine what mental health treatment could be.
As demand for holistic, integrative mental health care grows, Laurie moves the practice into the historic 1902 MOTT Building in downtown Cedar Rapids, nestled alongside the river.
Recognizing a lack of holistic mental health resources in the territory, Laurie opens a second location — bringing cutting-edge psychiatric care, KAP, and functional medicine to an underserved community.
Both practices are growing. Laurie is actively seeking new opportunities to expand in Cedar Rapids, ensuring more individuals have access to the transformative care we provide.
With both clinics now open, the practice continues to expand its reach — without changing the foundation it was built on. Holistic Wellness & Psychiatry is a platform that provides services to affiliated psychiatric medical practices which are independently owned and operated.
And we’re not stopping there. Stay tuned for updates as we continue to evolve and bring our unique approach to even more communities.
